A powerful yet refined expression of Provence, Grand Vin Rouge 2020 is crafted from carefully selected old-vine parcels grown on high terraces (350–400m) of clay-limestone soils with exposed parent rock. This Organic cuvée reflects both the warmth of a dry vintage and the precision of meticulous vineyard and cellar work.
Hand-harvested grapes are sorted in both vineyard and cellar before undergoing cold pre-fermentation maceration and a long, eight-week vatting period with manual punch-downs. Fermented with native yeasts, the wine is matured for 18 months in 400L barrels (30% new oak, 50% one-wine barrels) with a portion aged in stainless steel to preserve freshness. A further 10–18 months in bottle allows the wine to harmonise and develop added complexity.
The blend of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah delivers an attractive cherry-red colour with ruby highlights. The nose is complex and elegant, layered with aromas of red and black fruits, subtle notes of undergrowth and the gentle spice of barrel ageing. On the palate, it is rich and structured, combining depth and balance with fine tannins and a long, persistent finish marked by blackcurrant and morello cherry.
Built for ageing, this Grand Vin Rouge will evolve beautifully over 10–15 years, gaining further nuance and refinement in bottle.
