Product Description

A festive favourite for traditionalists, this Uncooked York Ham is dry cured and matured for at least ten weeks to deliver a bold, salty flavour and satisfyingly firm texture. A true heritage centrepiece, it comes with full preparation instructions and an optional cooking bag for authentic hands-on enjoyment this Christmas.

Evoking the farmhouse kitchens of old, York ham is one of Britain’s most traditional cures, renowned for its robust, savoury character. Firmer and saltier than Wiltshire ham, it’s the choice for those who appreciate deep, complex flavour and time-honoured craft.

Prepared using age-old methods, each leg is left to mature slowly for a minimum of ten weeks, developing its signature texture and full-bodied taste. A 24-hour soak before cooking is required to temper the saltiness, so we recommend scheduling delivery 2–3 days ahead of your planned festive meal.

Supplied with a cooking guide and optional bag for ease, this York Ham is perfect served hot and carved at the table as a dramatic Christmas roast, or enjoyed cold in paper-thin slices for Boxing Day buffets and celebratory spreads.

Cooking Instructions
Remove packaging. Prior to cooking the ham should be soaked in cold water for 24-48 hours, changing the water once or twice. The length of soaking will affect the final saltiness of the meat. To Boil: Place ham in a large saucepan and cover with cold water, bring slowly to the boil and simmer for approximately 25 minutes per pound (500g). Unless you want to serve it hot, let it cool in the boiling water. To Bake: We recommend simmering for 20 minutes per pound, followed by baking at 190°C/ Fan 170°C /gas mark 5.
